Originality

Loads of sites have these, but mine's different.

Mine's different because I'm not going to serve you a batch of ideas for pages that everyone else has anyway. I'm going to teach you about originality.

All the popular homepages on the web, when you think about it, have something original about them. That's why they're so popular. Sparkle 2001 and Crazeee, for example, have a huge amount of content about maintaining a successful website. And the reason some people think they are unoriginal is because since they've gotten popular, people mimic them and steal their content ideas, but they don't mind all that much - they're just trying to help the web community. Amberelise.com is popular because of all the creative things she has to offer her visitors. Other homepages are the same way - they have originality and creativity.

And it's fun to be original, to think of some new thing that nobody else has on their site and to flaunt it. It's one of those great perks of being a webmaster or webmistress. :D

So when you're thinking, "I need new content... I NEED new content..." stop for a moment and remember than quality overrules quantity by a long shot. No one site has everything, and no one site can. But if you don't bog your visitors down with stuff they can find anywhere else, you've got something others don't have - originality.
