Meaningless Leftovers

One more sunrise
I'll let you be
One more sunrise
As you and me
One more day
In bittersweet loss
One more day
Is all it costs

And then there will be
Nothing left
Because we'll have
Split it all up
Into meaningless leftovers
And then there will be
The purpose
We thought we had
Growing dimmmer
Every day

One more sunrise
Is all it takes
For me to take
My love away
One more night
Shiv'ring on my own
To let me know
What could've flown

And then there will be
No such thing
As a happily ever after
One more day
Because we tried to split
What we had
Into meaningless leftovers
Of a love now past

And they only remind us
Of what could've been
Had our patience
Not worn thin
Startling examples
Of used to be
Displayed carelessly
Between you and me

Now lost
