Maiden
She
was a maiden
Welcomed all, gave love freely
So calm, made all else seem frantic
So warm, a smile could melt your heart
Some
described her as a faerie
Some described her as a goddess
But for everyone it was the same
They all had a beautiful word for her
She
was a maiden
Could wrap anyone in her arms
So pure, ivy grew up her legs
So gentle, you couldn't feel her
Some
were thankful
She could brighten their lives
Others wanted her
All to themselves
One
day the maiden fell in love
And began to ignore the world around her
Began to wonder, am I all I can be
Began to smile more upon one
She
became worrisome, not as calm
Never before had she rushed anywhere
Those she used to smile upon got ignored
The world became upset
Man
discovered hate, man discovered envy
The maiden's love discovered control
Death happened, the ivy wilted
And the maiden never noticed
Wars
happened, enemies were born
Predjudice grew between house and street
Still the maiden was blindly in love
Gave all to her love, everything
The
times were interesting
Because they were dangerous
We wish for excitement
Though peace is never such
Finally,
the maiden's love got tired
Of the endless attention, the selflessness
Dismissing her, he seeked another
A beauty who had stars in her eyes
The
maiden cried, ran to her old home
Only to find that the village was long gone
She'd moved on, but had she started all this?
Her village was only an old ruin
As
she looked around, the wind was never calm
Always voiced whispers of death and deceit
All of the women were looked at as slaves
Men were kings and priests, powerful
Because
of her foolishness
Her faith in human perfection
There grew the most stunning example
Of how love has ruined our world

I'm
not really sure where that one came from. Dated February 15th, 2004.
