Keep Lookin' Up

Grass is soft like velvet
And mixed in are its weeds
Life so sweet, young, and fresh
And guilt with your misdeeds

Stop searching for the dark side
Even in the sun
Stop looking for the mayhem
When clearly there is none

Someday I'm just wishing
That I can make you see
The brighter side of life
That you could try to be

Quit shyin' away from optimism
You can be happy too
You have a right to be here
So no need to be feelin' blue

Above the grass is a smile
A neverending blue sky
And don't you mention storms, dear
Just imagine being able to fly

To touch the bluest of blues
Weave in and out of the clouds
Alone in the peace, you and me
Away from all the eager crowds

Don't think I've gone crazy
We can't fly and never will
But hey, dear, think
What can you do still?

Look, my darling, see?
Not down into your coffee cup
Stop dreading the morning's work
Keep lookin' up.
