I'm Not Alright

Dodging needless questions as the come after the fall
Dodging needless answers that don't anser it at all
Trying to understand though I think I never will
Feeling rather lonely, sitting on the window sill

What kind of question is 'are you alright?'
What's the purpose of scaring the birds just so they take flight?
I don't see why you ask if you already know the answer
Slowly being consumed by the deadliest kind of cancer
And you still ask if I'm alright

It's not so simple as the 'good guy' and the 'bad guy'
Feeling so lifeless and I don't know exactly why
To keep from crying out I take to biting at my knuckles
Hide the fact that I don't eat by tightening my buckle

I know I'm frustrating, just leave me alone
Maybe I'll recover, but then maybe I won't
So overcome by the wicked disease called grief
Stop trying to convince me otherwise, 'cause nothing's left for me
