You look at me, I
look at you
You're a punk, you want me to be too
You pretend to have attitude, to be oh-so-cool
You act like you own this place, as if you rule
What if I don't want
to fit the mold?
Carbon copies and cliques are just so old
You may think my lights are glowing dimmer
But I think your brain is growing slimmer
A girl I saw just
the other day
She told me, like that, to get outta her way
I told her she could just find another spot
So she dragged my name through the mud a whole lot
What if I don't want
to be your slave?
What if I do not want to 'behave'?
Isn't that such a strange idea?
Until you choose to accept it I'll c'ya
You call me dumb for
this suggestion
Are you trying to be fake? That is the question
I want to leave my mark on this land
Don't want to only be dull and bland
What if I don't care
what you say?
My chance to change the world is here and today
If all I cared about was my first impression
I just know I'd come down with depression
You laugh and point
and prod and tease
But I'm immune to all of these
I'm gonna be different, I won't change my ways
I know I'll come out on top one of these days

A 'what-the-freak?!' poem. I do turn out a lot of them, don't I? This one is made cornier by its rhyming. This is a bit like who I want to be, just not... er... as, I don't know. Heh. Dated July 8th, 2003.
