That's a whole lotta pies....

We were in the grocery store getting groceries (well, what else would you do there...?).

We walked past a display of pies and, thinking of Ara, I asked Mum to buy pie.

"You know," Quinn told me idly as Mum looked at the prices of pies, "I bet I could name every kind of pie."

"I bet not," I retorted, pouting as Mum shook her head at me.

"I can so!"

So, as we walked down the next aisle, after twenty seconds of silence, I looked at him like he were crazy.

"Um, can't you even think of any types of pie? Apple? Cherry? Coconut...?"

"Those aren't types of pie!!"

I blinked.

"Huh?"

"Like..." he looked at the shelves where Mum was comparing brands of toothpaste. "Toothpaste pie!"

"Um, Quinn...."

"And deodorant pie! And steak pie! And watermelon pie! Water pie!"

I attempted to tune him out as he kept spewing imaginary names of pies, but found myself sniggering when he said "pizza pie" as we walked by frozen pizzas and "pot pie" as we passed a few kitchen tools. I don't think he realized that those are actual kinds of 'pie'....

We walked past donuts. "Donut pie!"

Past crayons. "Crayon pie!"

Past a spider that was frantically trying to avoid getting stepped on. "Spider pie!" I made a face.

Past numerous other things. He kept spawning names of odd pies. Cheese pie. Chicken pie. Hot dog pie. Chocolate pie (I expect that there is some variety of that out there...). Pencil pie. Poptart pie. Gameboy pie (oh boy, annoying game 'music' from a pie.), kool-aide (sp?) pie. Scissors pie. Shampoo pie.

He seemed immune to the phrase "shut up." Even Mum saying it didn't do anything.

I told him that if he shut up he could make a list of all of his 'pies' and stick it on the internet. (Funny, he didn't shut up and I'm still writing this.)

Milk pie. Hot tamale pie. Pie pie.

Finally, he went to sit on a bench while my mother and I purchased things.

And, thankfully, by the time we reached the car, he forgot about pie.

Whew.
