Book: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

Author: JK Rowling

Rating:

Date reviewed: 2/8/03

Summary: Harry Potter, an average 11-year-old, lives with his aunt, uncle, and cousin because his parents died. He recieves a letter shortly before his 11th birthday inviting him to attend Hogwarts, School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, but his relatives take it from him before he can read it. A giant by the name of Hagrid rescues him and takes him shopping for school supplies, and before he knows it he's at Hogwarts. He pieces together his past, and by the end of the year has stopped one way for Lord Voldemort (you know... the 'bad guy') to take over the wizarding world again.

Review: Really good book. If you haven't read it, whyever not?!? It's only the best book ever written!

(Oh, you wanted a real review? Um....)

Great book, very interesting. Rowling writes very well - she manages to get her point across without it seeming too slow or wordy. I think mature children can understand what happens, and the book is a literary masterpiece itself. Anybody can relate to the characters, and it's an all around great book.

Summary: Harry's second year at Hogwarts - he faces new challenges as the school year progresses, and learns more about the wizarding world and its history. By the end of the year he's foiled Voldemort again.

Review: Good book, like it's prequel. Everything in the first review applies, although for me it seemed a little bit rambly, but that's just my opinion. The book is a lot of people's favorite in the series.

Book: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

Author: JK Rowling

Rating:

Date reviewed: 2/8/03

Summary: Harry's third year at Hogwarts. He learns about more history of the wizarding world, including learning about how his parents were killed. A prisoner from the wizarding prison, Azkaban, breaks free and Harry gets closely watched because many people suspect that this escaped convict is after him. A lot goes on in this one that you don't really realize or think about until it's all revealed at the end.

Review: Greeeeeat book, my favorite of the Potter series, hehe.

Book: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Author: JK Rowling

Rating:

Date reviewed: 2/8/03

Summary: Harry's fourth year at Hogwarts. The book starts with the Quidditch Cup, and Harry learns about something exciting that will occur throughout the year at Hogwarts. Harry gets entered into it for unknown reasons (well, not exactly unknown, but I'm not going to spoil the secret :P ), and risks death to participate. And, old Moldieshorts (er... Voldemort) is back.

Review: Although Rowling does get a little wordy in this one (my version's 734 pages...), it's a great book, and is in no way 'slow'. You have to read it! ;)

Book: Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix

Author: JK Rowling

Rating:

Date reviewed: 8/13/03

Summary: The much-awaited fifth installment of the Harry Potter series, Order began in Privet Drive where Harry is trying to hear of any news of Voldemort through Muggle news, being isolated from the wizarding world, most of which now thinks of him as a crazy, attention-seeking teenager. Voldemort is gaining power every day while the wizarding world goes about their lives as normal, refusing to believe that Voldemort is back.

Review: I was a bit disappointed when I first read the book. The characters had undergone major personality changes during the three-year break from new books, and the entire book seemed more like fan fiction than the real thing the whole way through. The plot wasn't quite as exciting as it could have been, either. But after thinking over it a bit and getting over the character death, it does leave us awaiting the next book and wondering how much power Voldemort is going to gain.

Harry Potter belongs to JKR and WB. I do not claim him. I wish I could claim Severus, but I can't.
