Taxes

So the adults in this world work. They (well, most of them, anyway) work very hard. They get a paycheck with some reductions for taxes. And then, every now and then, half of what they earn they must pay to other people.

Ok, so the government gets a whole lot of their money. They use it to make better roads, improve education, and... give people who did something wrong enough to be put in jail cable TV! Whoo hoo!

I just think this system sucks.

Gore vs. Bush

Gore was better.

They really should switch over to popular vote. It's truer than the system they use now. See how much trouble Bush has been getting us into? And the guy's a "hey-let's-mess-up-the-planet-for-future-generations!" freak. I mean, honestly, the guy's really not helping the enviroment.

Drilling for oil in Alaska. Uh huh. That'll be what? Enough oil to last our country a month or two? What's the price? Oh yeah! Mess up Alaska and its wildlife! Let's do it!
And the forest fires. God. Thin the forests? Nuh uh. The dude just wants an excuse for more logging to be done. *Rolls eyes*

I could rant for a few more paragraphs, but I figure I'll stop here and say that Bush sucks.

Organized Religion

People will hate me for my opinions of organized religions, but I don't like them at all.

It's not just the belief in one god that gets me, it's more the inability to make your own choices. And that you must do everything you can to avoid sinning, or you won't go to heaven. Or that some people who follow organized religions can't take responsibility for their own actions (think 9/11. All the terrorists truly believed that what they were doing was godly). That sort of thing.

And some people just shove it into your face. They tell you flat out that if you are not a certain religion, your beliefs are wrong. It gives some people such closed minds. No, I'm not saying that all people who follow an organized religion are bad. If I were that narrow-minded, I'd never have some of the great friends I have now. But really, what is so wrong with being an atheist?

Doesn't mean I can't believe things. I believe that a lot of ordinary objects have their own souls and that after you die, you are reincarnated. I do not believe in a heaven or a hell. If you don't believe in it, it's kind of hard to be afraid of going there, lol. I do believe science. I don't feel that there is one being mightier than any of the others. Just my beliefs.

I'll just restate what I've tried to make clear already, however. I hold nothing against those who follow organized religions (except the ones who tell you what you believe is wrong), just the idea in itself.

Abortion

This is something that will be battled out eternally, because people on both sides have fair points. I personally am pro-choice, because if you are raped or aren't ready to take care of a child, you shouldn't be forced to keep a child or put it up for adoption. There are enough children up for adoption anyway. I don't believe that people should be allowed to continually take advantage of abortion, however.

~~

Gays/Lesbians

I'm very open-minded towards people who choose to prefer their own gender over the opposite. I think they should be treated just as 'straight' people are, because they really are just normal people like the rest of us.

~~

"Love at First Sight" etc.

I could really go on forever about this one. Heh. For your sake, I won't.

I don't believe in love at first sight, let me say that flat out. You can't get to love someone for who they are without getting to know who they are. You can fall in love with their appearance, sure, but not their persona. It takes longer than that for you to really get to know a person.

Love at first sight is a fairytale. It is not something that happens in real life.

As for the etc., that was so I could say that I don't believe in the labels 'gay' or 'lesbian', really. I believe in falling in love for a person, whoever they may be, not for what gender they are.
