Choir Songs

This is just where I am keeping some miscellaneous songs' lyrics that I have sung for choir in the past. I did not write any of these and do not claim to. They're in whatever order... just adding on here and there. Some are Christmas songs, some aren't, etc.

Les Misérables (medley)

At the End of the Day

At the end of the day you're another day older
And that's all you can say for the life of the poor.
It's a struggle, it's a war
And there's nothing that anyone's giving
One more day standing about
What is it for?
(One day less to be living!)

At the end of the day you're another day colder
And the shirt on your back doesn't keep out the chill.
And the righteous hurry past, they don't hear the little ones crying
And the winter is coming on fast
Ready to kill.
(One day nearer to dying!)

At the end of the day there's another day dawning
And the sun in the morning is waiting to rise
As the waves crash on the sand like
A storm that will break any second
There's a hunger in the land
And it's us who have to pay
At the end of the day!

I Dreamed a Dream

I dreamed a dream in time gone by
When hope was high and life worth living
I dreamed that love would never die
I dreamed that god would be forgiving....

Then I was young and unafraid
And dreamed were made, and used, and wasted
There was no ransom to be paid
No song unsung, no wine untasted....

But the tigers come at night
With their voices soft as thunder
As they tear your hopes apart
As they turn your dreams to shame....

Castle on a Cloud
(music)

There is a castle on a cloud
I like to go there in my sleep
Aren't any floors for me to sweep
Not in my castle on a cloud.

There is a room that's full of toys
There are a hundred boys and girls
Nobody shouts or talks too loud
Not in my castle on a cloud.

There is a lady all in white
She holds me and sings a lullaby
She's nice to see and she's soft to touch
She says Cosette, I love you very much....

I know a place where no one's lost
I know a place where no one cries
Crying at all is not allowed
Not in my castle on a cloud.

Do You Hear the People Sing?
(music - different version)

Do you hear the people sing?
Singing the song of angry men
It is the music of a people who will not be slaves again
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start when tomorrow comes.

Will you join in our crusade?
Who will be strong and stand with me?
Beyond the barricade is there
A world you long to see
Then join in the fight that will give you the right to be free!

(Repeat first part)

Bring Him Home
(music - different version)

God on high
Hear my pray'r
In my need
You have always been there

You can take
You can give
Let him be, let him be, let him live
If I die
Let me die
Let him live
Bring him home
Bring him home
Bring him home....

At the Hop
(music - slightly hard to follow, probably different version)

Bah-bah-bah-bah!
Bah-bah-bah-bah!
Bah-bah-bah-bah!
Bah-bah-bah-bah! At the Hop!

Well you can rock it, you can roll it
You can stomp and even stroll it at the Hop!

Lyp-so when you chicken at the Hop!
It's the dance sensation that is
Sweepin' the nation at the Hop!

Let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go
Come on
Let's go

Well you can swing it you can groove it
You can really start to move it at the Hop!
Where the jumpin' is the smoothest and
The music is the coolest at the Hop!
All the cats and chicks can get their kicks
At the Hop!

Let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go
Come on
Let's go

Bah doo dot
Bop bah doo dot
Ahh-ahh

Bah doo dot
Bop bah doo dot
Bah doo dot
Bop bah doo dot

Let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go
Come on
Let's go

Bah-bah-bah-bah!
Bah-bah-bah-bah!
Bah-bah-bah-bah!
Bah-bah-bah-bah! At the Hop!

Sing We All Noel

Sing we all noel, hear the music all around. Sing we all noel, let the joy resound!

Noel, noel, noel, let our voices rise, as we sing a song of praise and lift our voices to the sky! Noel, noel, noel, sing it loud and clear, so that all on Earth may know our joy this season of the year!

Sing we all noel, in this joyous rondelle. Sing we all noel, hear the news today!

Noel, noel, noel, let our voices rise, as we sing a song of praise and lift our voices to the sky! Noel, noel, noel, sing it loud and clear, so that all on Earth may know our joy this season of the year!

Sing noel!

(Latin stuff follows)

Noel, noel, noel, let our voices rise, as we sing a song of praise and lift our voices to the sky! Noel, noel, noel, sing it loud and clear, so that all on Earth may know our joy this season of the year!

Home is Where the Heart Is

Leave a candle in the window.... Its golden light beckons the heart. My spirit soars! The journey ends! Feels like home again!

Light a light for me to follow.... and on that long and winding road.... home is where the heart belongs... what a journey this has been.

(Instrumental)

The path is clear, the candle glowing... and now so near, my spirit sings!

For once again, it feels like home.... What a journey this has been.

(Loud) Sing hallelujah, hallelujah, halle, halle, hallelujah!

[I don't know the words for certain because unfortunately I don't know that much Spanish nor can I figure them out... lol... but this is *my* song, so there. Also, this is not exactly what we sang, so long ago, in 6th grade. I've changed it and adapted it and this is my version, but the general sense of the song is the same.]

Once Upon a December

[YES!! Finally, in my last year at LMS, we do my favorite choir-type song, from the movie Anastasia! Aweeeeesome! AND, I get the solo, the last line of the song. Totally, totally rad.]

Dancing bears, painted wings, things I almost remember... and a song someone sings, once upon a December.

Someone holds me safe and warm. Horses prance through a silver storm. Figures dancing gracefully, across my memory....

(Instrumental, ghosts sing on the movie)

Someone holds me safe and warm. Horses prance through a silver storm. Figures dancing gracefully, across my memory....

Far away, long ago, glowing dim as an ember. Things my heart used to know, things it yearns to remember... and a song someone sings....

Once upon a December....
