Augustus the Noble
By Percyweasley

Augustus Kozlovski, who is better known as Augustus the Noble, is a wizard who lived in Eastern Poland from 1890 to 1970. He attended The Durmstrang Academy of Magical Arts from 1900 to 1913 and graduated as a prefect with high marks.

In the late 1930s, muggles all over the world were engaged in what they called "World War II." Since the wizarding world was also busy with Grindewald and his worldwide revolution at the same time, the two wars overlapped.

Throughout Eastern Europe, the muggles launched an event called the "Holocaust" in which they killed many of their own due to certain differences. Augustus witnessed this, so he decided to react.

Augustus was especially good in Transfiguration classes, so he snuck into one of the camps one night and transfigured about eight muggles into rocks and smuggled them into safety. He then re-transfigured them back and placed memory charms on them.

Augustus went on to make about 30 more trips like this all across Poland and it is believed that he rescued over 300 muggles in the process.

He received an Order of Merlin, 2nd Class award for his gallant deeds.

Black Cats
By Ashura

Black cats are concidered extrememely unlucky by muggle people because of the happenings of the Salem Witchcraft Trials. Witches and wizards that could turn into a black cat would use their magic in cat form, as to not be caught by muggles. It would only be done as punishment to those who accused them. They would make all the 'unlucky' things happen to them, in hiding as the black cat.

Dragon Breakout: a Mystery
By Lupin
On the 9th of October 2002, an escaped Hungarian Horntail was found roaming in the Britain National Park in the Muggle world.

It was reported that the Horntail had esacaped the new Dragon Sanctuary in Diagon Alley at, estimated, seven in the evening. At approximately eight in the evening, three Muggles spotted the Horntail making its way to the park.

As the Minister of Magic, Arthur Dippet, is with direct contact with the Britain Prime Minister, reinforcements were immediately despatched from the Ministry of Magic was sent to cover it up, when he was informed of the incident. Dragon experts and catchers were called up to transport the Horntail back.

A total of two hours were needed to transport the Horntail back to the Dragon Sanctuary. The Muggle witnesses had their memories modified and it was hard work as there were a total of more than twenty Muggles witnessing the scene.

A spokegoblin of the Dragon Sanctuary reported that ther was a huge concealed passageway, covered by a large bush, leading to the Muggle world in the Horntail's 'cell' and it had somehow discovered it.

The manager of the Dragon Sanctuary, Gabrielle Clearwater, had covered the passageway and installed more precautions to prevent such incidents again.

It has been known that such incidents had occured umpteen times before in Romania and Bulgaria.

The First Magic Wand
By Percyweasley

In the Ancient World prior to 390 B.C., wizards around the world had a very difficult time channeling and focusing their powers. When trying to cast spells, they would recite the spell and then point towards their aim, but it would sometimes misfire if you didn't aim your finger carefully.

This all changed in 390 B.C. when a young wizard named Maximillian Ollivander in Northern Italy came about his magnificent discovery. Ollivander worked for the Ministry of Magic of the Roman Empire and was a part-time woodcrafter for muggles.

While on vacation one week, he experimented with a thin oak log that was 10 inches long and a bit of unicorn tail hair. He sliced the log in half and insterted the tail right in the middle. He then forged the log back together and let it stand overnight.

The next day, he picked up his creation and started waving it around like a baton. Then his 15 year old brother, Augustus Ollivander walked in on him and gave him quite a shock. Without thinking, Maximillian then pointed the wand at his brother and shouted "Petrificus Totalus!"

A white misty cloud then was emitted from the wand and hit Augustus directly at his back. Maximillian noticed that the spell was twice as powerful as the last time he had done it to Augustus (which was just three days before) and was aimed perfectly. He then tried other simple spells that he knew and they were all twice as powerful and had perfect aim.

For the next five months, Maximillian worked like a house-elf on his magic wands. He shut down his wood crafting shop and took a leave of absence from the Ministry. He experimented with many types of wood and found out that some types worked well with unicorn hair, while others types refused to work with unicorn hair at all. Later, he tried out dragon heartstrings, phoenix feathers, snake fangs, and hippogriff feathers.

After working for three years, he finally mass-produced enough magic wand combinations to re-open up his woodcrafting shop as a magic wand shop. He relocated five years later into Diagon Alley in primitive London, where the shop Ollivanders now stand.

Maximillian Ollivander received an award of Order of Merlin, First Class for his great achievement in 1118, when the shop Ollivanders celebrated its 1500th Anniversary. Maximillian's descendant, Henry Ollivander received the award on behalf of Maximillian.

Forgo the Forgotten
By Dragon Princess

Many years ago in the 1700s, there was a young centaur boy named Forgo. He was a meek little fellow with mousey brown hair that hung over his dark curly lashes. His eyes were two different colors, green and black. Some said he was abnormal with his odd-colored eyes and shy manners. He was the best fortune teller that all the centaurs had ever known. Never in the centaurian history had such a intellegent boy been recorded. Some said his great abilities were fortold in the stars years before he was born.

Whatever they said, he was definately out of the ordinary. He did not join the groups of children his age in games such as "The Lightest Foot" and "Guess The Plant", but wandered off to be by himself. The others soon became used to this odd behavior of his and thought of it as no importance.

Wandering through The Forest Of Fifty Ghosts one day, he stumbled across a fairy being harrased by a ghost who had been a menace called Gunther The Menace in his formal life. Racing over, Fargo stamped at the ghost with his hooves. Annoyed, the ghost lost interest in the harrassment of the young fairy. Turning around, Forgo saw that the fairy was smiling at him. She told him that she was the daughter of the queen fairy of the forest and that she would grant him a wish for saving her.

Forgo gazed up at the stars for a minute and thought. "I want to become an immortal and travel the world around and read the stars forever."

At hearing his wish, the fairy quickly waved her hand and vanished. Soon after, Forgo left The Forest of the Fifty Ghosts to wander around and learn about everything the stars can tell. Ever since, Forgo has been wandering the earth. Nobody missed him in his centaur clan since he had always been quiet and self-preserved, but if you listen closely in the dead of night when the stars are at their brightest, you may be able to catch a glimpse of a swhishing tail, a soft whinny, or a lock of brown hair in the shadows.

Nobody has seen him in the whole. It's almost as if he wasn't ever there.

The Great Rebellion
By Veronica Longbottom

Deep in the forest, a strange sort of meeting was taking place. No one in the small, country village knew about this midnight council, for what they were discussing was forbidden! But the time had come; the time of the rebellion was here.

For years the tyrant leader, Kane forced many great witches and wizards into hiding. Tired and angry the council of magic decided to break free from their dictator. Many were afraid to fight for fear of being put in to slavery or worse, death. Without any other options the board of magic agreed to the uprising. Lead by the gallant witch Morgana the battle was to begin.

Dressed in robes of dark blue, Morgana walked in to the village. Several women were backing out of the way, while others promptly grabbed their children to protect them. Bravely she marched up to Kane's door, hoping to convince him to stop the hatred. When he opened the large, oak door his eyes grew wide.
Calmly he asked, "What is your purpose, witch?"
"Your reign is over!" She replied, "No longer will you punish us for our gifts."
Kane being a stubborn man gave a hardy laugh and said, "What? I think you are mistaken. Your kind is not welcome here. Leave this village or you shall be burned!"
By then a great crowd had gathered, but still Morgana stood her ground. She knew that he would never change his mind.

"Very well," sighed Morgan as she left Kane's door and headed back to the forest. "You were warned."
Sounds of laughter had erupted behind her, but still she held her head high. Not letting the cruel jokes of the villagers stagger her steps. When she reached the edge of the forest, she could still hear the words of Kane ringing in her ears. How she wanted to take her revenge on him, but she knew his time would come. For now she had to report back to the council and wait for their decision.

"Good sirs," bowed Morgana. " I have been to see Master Kane."
A feeble, old wizard named Algernon stood up and asked, " Well? Will he continue his tyranny, or do we have to fight?"
As they looked into Morgana's large, oval eyes the coven of wizards knew their answer. There was noting left to do but go to war with Kane! Word of the uprising went out to all that night. Every great witch and wizard was called upon, and they hastily made their way to the heart of the forest. All were prepared to sacrifice their lives in the name of peace.
" Quiet, everyone!" Bellowed a large, bellied wizard
Slowly Algernon walked towards the center of the crowd.

"My brave witches and wizards the time is upon us. Kane, the leader of the village of Feign, has not accepted our offer for peace. We have no other choice but to go to war."
A burst of loud cheers broke out in to the horde of people.
"Calm down," cried a group of wizards. "Let Algernon finish."
Once again they fell silent, and waited for the ancient wizard to continue.
"We have waited many years for this day, and I know all of you will give you last breath to succeed. But remember this," said the wizard. "You will not before gotten. You will live on in the lives of the future witches and wizards, and you are giving them the greatest gift of all. Freedom!"

By now the forest had exploded in to huge shout approval, all were ready to confront their tormenter. Hidden in the shadows, Morgana watched as the others prepared to leave the forest. It wasn't until Algernon called her over that she walked out of the darkness.
"My talented Morgan," said a teary-eyed wizard. "This is your destiny, you know? I have seen it in my dreams. Your parents would have been very proud of you."
Not wanting her tears to show, Morgana quickly turned her head then replied, "Grandfather, you have taught me everything, and you know everything. But tell me will we succeed?"
"Ah, that is unknown my child," whispered Algernon. "Only the beginning of the story is every written, not the end."
With that Morgana gave her grandfather a hug goodbye and lead her people to Feign.
The sun was coming up over the mountains when they had reached the town. But something was not right. Everyone in the village, where were they? Numerous wizards and witches were getting extremely worried, and wanted to leave.

"They know!" screeched a bony, little witch in the crowd. "We must run, before it's to late!"
With that the mob of people were roughly pushing their way back to the forest. Swiftly Morgana shot past the panic stricken crowed.
"So you're just going to give up then?" she said in a loud, angry voice. "Cowards! Go, hide and suffer in your homes. Let Kane and his people have yet another victory. But remember this," her voice gave a violent shutter like the sounds of lightning striking the ground. "Change will never come until we seek it out! But go, hide until Kane him self hunt you down."
Everyone knew she was right. It was only a matter of time before Kane pushed them further away from their homes. Once again they turned back towards the little town, but when they did, Kane appeared with an assembly of men.
"So, you have returned?" smiled a smug Kane. "Did you really think that you find us unprepared? For years we have waited. Waited to put you all in your place, and now we will finally get our chance."

This enraged Morgana and her people. Before anyone could speak someone shot out a silver streak towards one of Kane's men. Like a great wave the swarm of witches, wizards, and muggles collided with one another. Sparks from wands were being sent in all directions, while clubs, swords, and fists were being sent back in retaliation. Clouds of thick colored smoke loomed over the mayhem, as Morgana's people called out spells. Many muggles ran off into the forest in the shapes of various animals, while other were screaming in pain from boils, sores, and other dreadful ailments.
With wand and sword in hand Morgana and Kane made their way towards one another. Struggling desperately to get past the venomous pack of people in the way, they met. Both pulsating with anger they stood face to face, whilst the bloody battle rage on around them. Shaking with fury Kane swung his swords in the direction of Morgana lean body. In and instant a river of crimson colored blood began to flow from where his blade had struck.
"Ahhgh!" Morgana howled as she tried quickly to stop the bleeding that came from her side.
Once again Kane came rushing at her, but instantaneously, she spun out of his reach. Quickly Morgana raise her wand and started to say an incantation but....

Umph! She knocked face down by one of Kane's men. When she realized what had happen it been too late, her wand was gone. She tried to get to her feet, but something was holding her down.
"Its to late for you now witch," Said a cold, malevolent voice.
Immediately she knew who was pinning her to the ground. Her heart was beating rapidly in her chest, and stray thoughts were racing through her mind. She closed her eyes waiting for Kane to strike, but suddenly Morgana remembered what her Grandfather had told her.
"This is your destiny!"
With that memory racing through her mind, she pushed her self up from the cool, earthy ground. Kane couldn't believe his eyes. He stared, panic stricken, not wanting to move. The battle once so fierce and passionate had come to unnatural halt. It was over and he knew it. For a few brief moments they gazed at one another. Then Morgana spoke.

"Look at what you have done, did you really think we wanted this?"
Kane searched the faces of his men hoping to find the answer, but they all looked blankly back at him. His face gave sudden jerk and gradually he move towards Morgana. He wasn't going to let this happen, no matter what it cost. Teeth clenched he lifted his hand. There was something in it... "NO! It couldn't be!"
Morgana's wand!
Silently she stood there waiting for Kane to edge closer to her. A twisted sort of smile was etched on his dirt-covered face. There were cries from the crowd telling her to run, but she knew this was going to end it. This was the way it had to be. Like a drunken fool Kane ran full speed at her, but before he could reach her she shouted:

"Bend the bone and break the back
Eyes of gold and fur of black,
Whisker white and tail long.
This is the form in which you belong
."

Like a gust of strong wind Kane was knocked painfully to the ground, and he began to change. He raised his hands trying desperately to grab hold of what ever he came in contact with, but there was nothing there. Slowly his body had begun to grow thick, black fur, and his once human screams became more beast like. Twisting and turning he transformation was complete.
As Kane's followers looked down in disbelief, Morgana gently scooped the now black tabby into her arms. Her dark, black hair was scattered about her beautiful face, and her eyes now full of pain and wisdom looked out in to the confused crowd.

"Go home," she said in a monotone voice, as she silently made her way back to the Forbidden Forest.
Baffled, the masses of witches, wizards, and muggles began to talk to one another. Was it really over? many asked. Those who were wisest knew it was. Change had definitely come to the small village. As time passed the story of the great rebellion had drifted from person to person. Everyone knew of the great things Morgana had done for her people. Eventually muggles and wizard were able to co-exist, although some things were still kept secret from the muggle world. And for those who want to know, if you ever see a black tabby cat with gold eyes, don't worry, it's just Kane.

Hogwarts Founding Fathers (...and Mothers): An Indepth Biography
By Jonathan O'Reilly

Over a thousand years ago, four wizards and witches united to establish the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, with a thought in mind to train young children the ability to tame their magic and be able to control it. In this chapter, we shall take a look into the history of these well-known people: Godric Gryffindor, Salazar Slytherin, Helga Hufflepuff, and Rowena Ravenclaw, the original founders of Hogwarts.

Probably most widely known of the four was Godric Gryffindor, whose name is now one of the most successful Hogwarts houses. Godric, who came from the moor, was known to be quite easy going and allowed anyone who showed magical aptitude, to enroll at Hogwarts, no matter their blood type. A master at transfiguration, Godric was a brave and noble wizard, often carrying his silver sword, which is now in the possesion of the current Hogwarts headmaster, Albus Dumbledore. Gryffindor, who was the original owner of the Sorting Hat, thought up the idea of using the old rag to decide upon which house the first years should join.

Next, we go to Salazar Slytherin, known for his cunning and desire of perfection. Slytherin was the original member of the four who wished to permit only pureblood young wizards at Hogwarts, believing "Mudbloods" to be unclean. Salazar, who was rumoured to delve in the Dark Arts, also excelled at making potions and brews. It is believed that Salazar also created a secret chamber within Hogwarts, though, that information is not totally reliable and generally believed as a myth. Slytherin was also able to speak Parseltongue, language of snakes and the House Animal of the current Hogwarts house is the reptile.

Third, we go to patient and just Helga Hufflepuff, who was known for her great ability amongst plants and other magical ingredients. Though not much is known about Helga, as with her female companion, Rowena Ravenclaw, we do know that she was from the valley. A loyal and hard worker, you would most likely find Professor Hufflepuff amongst the Hogwarts gardens.

Finally, we come to wise old Rowena Ravenclaw. A scholar and educator of sorts, Rowena was always known to be carrying a book in one hand and a quill in the other. Always craving more knowledge, Ravenclaw was excellent in the field of charms and other such spells. Rowena was thought to come from the glen.

In conclusion, these four witches and wizards, though different in many different aspects, were awe-inspiring together and founded one of the oldest and most established magical schools in all of Europe and the world.

House Elves
By Lena_Radcliffe

House elves have served wizarding families for centuries. How did these creatures become to be enslaved beings?

The first house elf was created by world-renowned Renaissance man, Leonardo Da Vinci. His only fault (which caused titters and snickers throughout the family) was the disappointing fact that he was a squib. This is why he worked tirelessly to created Muggle- and squib-friendly inventions to make up for lack of the powers that his relatives possessed. It was discovered in his journals (written in his traditional upside-down and backwards scripture) that he despised his relatives and was full of self-pity. If it were modern days, he would be able to use a Muggle product called 'Prozac' to relieve depression. Despite this not exactly redeeming quality, he continued to enrich his world and mind with his inventions, discoveries, and art. Now, where do house elves fit in? Not having the ability to magically create a being, he created a machine (now called a robot by Muggles) to take care of his household duties while he tinkered away in his study. Being a brilliant man, he was able to full y use his 'robot', even without magical abilities. One day, his unidentified relative decided to play a practical joke on Leonardo while he was in his study. He took his wand (later discovered in Florence, Italy to be birch, 18.2 centimeters, containing one dragon heartstring) and gave the robot life. He gave it a life with a long, ugly nose; huge, buggy eyes; overly large feet, and the inability to free itself so it could annoy Leonardo with it's pipsqueaky voice for the rest of his life. And thus house elves were created. Although the relative's plan backfired: Leonardo told everything to the little elf, and enjoyed his company immensely. That house elf knew all the plans, inventions, and thoughts of a true genius, and stayed silent with the information until the day when Leonardo accidentally threw him a handkerchief in frustration when an invention didn't work. The elf recalled feeling, "a broken link, like" (as recorded from Leonardo's journals) and found he could leave freely. Although he chose not to leave, a loophole was t hen discovered.

After Leonardo asked his relative to create another house elf, the species flourished. No one is sure how house elves cultivated, as they are seen as little as possible and only the richest families could afford one. In fact, Squeaky, the first house elf, received such a large profit from Leonardo for the selling of house elves, had a small mansion built for himself next to Leonardo in which he hung handkerchiefs on all the walls. Unfortunately, the fact that they were essentially selling slaves did not occur to them as slaves were not an issue back in Renaissance times. Now protests against the slavery of house elves surround our world, although the house elves do not participate. Most inherited Squeaky's love for his master and willingness to serve, although of course there are oddballs in every family. Today, the only protest house elves make is a wish to be represented at the Ministry of Magic so they can further aid wizardkind. Although they are indeed quite ugly and intended fo r servitude their entire lives, they are a very noble species at heart.

Sarah the Saddened
By Harriet

1567 was the year that Goblin rebellions were the worst. Goblins were losing against the wizards, even though the goblins came up with better, more confusing tactics. Wizards always figured them out though. They had wands and invisibility cloaks. Wizards could easily spy on them. The goblins finally decided to get dementors to guard their forts. Somehow, they still found the plans the goblins had made.
"There must be a traitor," Rogert the Rich said at one meeting. "That's the only explanation."
"But who?" the other goblins said."It could be anyone.
Rogert looked at his wife, Sarah . She was very excited about this rebellion against the wizards. Her own family was killed ten years ago. Since then she had seeked revenge. "One who seeks money," Rogart said."Though I wouldn't seek money, since I am already rich."
"Its Bogart the Bum!" they all shouted. Bogart was a goblin that only attended plan meetings and recently had gotten a large sum of money. The goblins lit torches and ran out the meeting hall doors to find Bogart. One hour later they found him. "Traitor!" They screamed at him.
"What are you guys talking about?" He said in his usual raspy voice.
"String him up!" Rogart said.
"There's no proof that he did it though!" One of the goblins shouted.
"I don't care!" Rogart said. "I know he's guilty!" The goblins, obeyed their leader and tied up Bogart.
"Hey what are you a doin?" Bogart yelled at them, but it was to late. They put the noose around his neck and pulled. He was dead in less than two minutes.

"Ah, now we can discuss our plans in peace," Rogart said, "without fear of humans finding them out."
The goblins headed back to the meeting house and discussed their plans. The next day, the wizards knew their plans. 202 goblins died in that battle. It is known as the Battle of Bogart the Bum in memory of Bogart.
Over the next two months, the wizards still discovered they're plans. Rogart killed 27 more innocent goblins. In August, Sarah thought of something. How did Rogart the Rich get the money? Sarah married him during the rebellion and he was rich. Rogart had also gotten steadily richer over the last few months. Rogart killed his own men and then gave the wizards the plans. For money. "How could he have done this?" she thought.
That night, Rogart went to sleep early, saying he was tired. Sarah went to the shed outside their house and grabbed an axe. She crept back into the house and into their room. She walked up to Rogarts side of the bed and lifted the axe over her head "This is it," she thought. "Good-bye, my love." With a swishing sound, she brought the axe down on his head. Rogart the rich traitor was dead.
From that day on, Sarah was sad because she had no family left. She swore to never marry anyone, in fear of losing (or killing) another loved goblin. Sarah took on the name Sarah the Saddened. She never told anyone she had killed her husband. Sarah told everyone that asked that a wizard had come into their house, pushed Sarah to side (knocking her unconscious), and when she woke up, Rogart was beheaded.
Even through her sorrow, she commanded the Goblin rebellion. She lead the goblins to victory through the end. At the age of 56, when the war was over and the goblins had won, a true wizard snuck into her house and beheaded her.
Today, Sarah the Saddened's house still exists in Wales, covered in Muggle Repelling Charms. Blood can still be seen on the floor, from both Sarah the Saddened and Rogart the Rich. Sarah had had her revenge against the wizards.
