Ravenclaw has won the House Cup at Adrienne's Hogwarts!

There's been another update! GASP! Scroll down!
Current topic of utter ponderment: AH's Book 6 Discussion Chat!!

Welcome to Adrienne's Hogwarts!

The page colors are blue and bronze, and you can probably guess who won the House Cup. Again. ;)

Now, I won't be misleading with this... there will be no Y5 of AH as you know it. However, I am to learn a programming language from my dad and will hopefully be able to create a faster, better version of AH - a project which is being called AHR (Adrienne's Hogwarts Revived). To learn more about the possibilities of this project, read below.

But wait, AH isn't disappearing completely!

There are some small surprises in store for you between now and when AHR is projected to open. For now, you can keep checking back for the changes - or you can sign up for AH's NotifyList, and I'll keep you informed. :)

------------- Latest News -------------

07/28/05 - Psh, yes, I know, long time no update.

I assume you've all read HBP by now. If not, SHAME on you. HBP discussion has been started on the Wazzup Board (YES, the board is in use now), please go join if you've read it!!
Oh, and, er, I've accidentally been deleting requests for board access lately. (Ugh, Yahoo files them right into bulk....) Please request again if you need it, or if you already had it and just forget your username/password combo, e-mail me to ask for it! Let's get discussion rolling!

I NEED BOOK SIX TRIVIA!!! Please, for the sake of getting at least part of AHR up sooner, submit some! I'll definitely try to reserve some special item or something for people who help me get AHR open faster... and right now, book six trivia is really needed! To submit, please e-mail me the question and the right answer (and the page if you're just that good), and also list three other wrong answers - make sure you mark the correct one. Groups of ten questions would be perfect, and if you're really bored, several of those groups would be fantastic.

Another need is homework trivia! Seriously, I really do need a lot of this.

See the post below for stuff I'm also in dire need of.

-------------

08/17/05 - Now that you've had a month to read and reread book six, it is time for the AH HBP Discussion Chat!
This chat will take place in the old Bravenet chat room that we've used for almost all the balls and chats since the very first End-Of-Summer Ball, which can be found here.
It's taking place this Saturday, the 20th, from 7:30PM to 9PM. Hope to see you there - feel free to invite your Potter fan friends!

-------------

07/15/05 - Less than a day now! You've reread all the books eagerly, finishing them in time for the sixth installment to the series, and now are anxiously awaiting The Half-Blood Prince. What now?

AHR is in progress and you, my friend, can help speed it up!! So far I've only programmed joining and password recovery and login/logout, created some of the images, and tentatively planned the rest, but tonight I *should* be starting the system used for trivia and then changed slightly for homework. But - this is where you come in - I need some input on the following things (e-mail me here at adrienne@cniche.com):

First of all, I need book trivia. Really, I need oodles and oodles of it. Writing trivia for me (and including the book it's from and four possible answers, with the correct one marked) would be THE BEST THING you can do to help speed up the development of AHR. And when book six comes out, I'll need lots of trivia for that too. Please submit trivia in groupings of ten (grouped by book) if you can, since that's how they'll be databased.

Homework-related trivia!! Very much needed, VERY much appreciated. Any subject [that Harry takes] in the Potter books will do, except maybe the classes that only show up, well, once. [*Coughastronomycough*]

As another thing, how do you think we should do Quidditch? Eloria's system (used in Y4)? Another way? I would love input on this.

Also, how often would you like to see trivia and homework updated? I'm thinking any more often than once a week is a bad idea, but I dunno how often would be appropriate. Keep in mind that even if it's changing each week, that's sixty trivia and quite a lot of homework questions that are being changed every time, and I don't want inflation getting too high. (Seriously, there were HUGE problems with that at the original AH. XD ...End of Y4, I can recall a battle to buy as many House Points as humanely possible... I'm not looking forward to any repeats of such, haha.)

Places at Hogwarts such as the Astronomy Tower, kitchens, Room of Requirement - what're we doing with them? Anything? Nothing? I believe we'd discussed this long ago but never found an answer, and I forget what was suggested. >_<

Clubs. Another "what're we doing about them?" situation.

And, at Telyn Timber's suggestion, AH is having a chat to discuss book six in maybe a week and a half. All mature Potter fans are welcomed and details will be posted here and to the NotifyList when we find out these details. However, what dates/times would work for you? We're going to try and schedule it so that as many of you can come as possible. Please tell me when you can attend!

On another, similar note, the board is being posted on again - gasp! (Thanks, Arielus 13!) [If anyone's sent requests for the board password lately, I haven't gotten them, sorry. Yahoo keeps filtering stuff out of my mail... grrr....]

-------------

06/10/05 - Planning for AHR (or replanning, I lost all of my previous plans but the new ones are actually better) has begun and eventually my father's going to start teaching me the ColdFusion I need to know for it. It's looking like there are going to need to be google ads... I'm not sure whether they'll be on every page or what, but I'll try to put them in the least intrusive place possible. My domain needs to start supporting itself though.

If you'd like to help, please, submit trivia and homework questions! Trivia can come from books 1-5 (and 6 when it comes out on July 16th!!), and homework can come from any of the main Hogwarts subjects that Harry takes.

06/07/05 - YES! AN UPDATE! GASP!

I know, I know, I left this website unupdated... well... forever. Eight months-ish. Heh heh heh. You wouldn't believe how busy I've been with high school and karate and Scholastic Writing and getting good grades and orchestra and choir. Or maybe you would. O_o Nonetheless, I've been really busy, and I'm sorry for leaving y'all with nothing.

Because of this, I've not really had much time at all to work on AHR (the awesome AH Revived project that will be run solely by use of programming and a database) - but I'm very excited about the whole project. Who knows what could happen? It's a very big project (there are new images to be made - I don't plan on reusing all [I'm remaking most everything!] of the old ones, but they're still copyrighted to moi; I also need to actually program the thing. But I have a basic plan for everything even if I'm going to be getting major help from el padre with the ColdFusion parts... things are looking up!), but it's going to be fun. ^^

"How can I help??" you ask? Well, at the moment there's not much in the way of stuff for you to do. The programmed system won't require moderators or, really, much assisstance at all if I set it up right. The best thing you can do is start getting the word out so we can start Y5 with a bang!

The last Hog Prog:

10/9/04 - Wow, this has gone unupdated far too long.
Poll ("If Harry were to have an e-mail address, what might it be?") results are as follows: ihatevoldie@darkmark.com, one vote; potty@prophecy.co.uk, four votes; boywholived@MoM.co.uk / boywholived@MoM.gov, seven votes; and fireboltfan@quidditchcup.co.uk, 26 votes.
The winners of the contests were the following people. Effie wins 200 Galleons (not that you can, er, use them, but it must be a lovely fuzzy feeling, having won the last #1 contest at AH ;) ), SpinningJ wins 150HP, Gwyn Llyn wins 50 of each Galleons and HP, and Dawn Bluequeen, Lily Chelstane, MJ Keeper, and Telyn Timber win 100 Galleons each (again, see my note above)! :D
The Chance Game winner is Telyn Timber, who won 1032 Galleons! The HP Chance Game winner is Slytherin, winning 2180HP!
The final HP scores are Hufflepuff, 29625; Gryffindor, 32575; Slytherin, 41500; and Ravenclaw, with 44410, and keeping the House Cup. Good job everyone! :) Thank you all for making Y4 another enjoyable year. :D

The Adrienne's Hogwarts Revived Project

Although not much has really been worked out yet, what's to come will hopefully offer new opportunities to continue adding to AH. I can't reveal much yet - partially to protect AH and partially not to raise your hopes to much, because I don't have very much time to spend working lately (hence this particularly slow update). It will involve a login/logout system. Updates will be made automatically, as well as the possibilities for vaults, shops, and homework becoming less limited by human update time. Quidditch games would probably use a similar system to the one in use now, or could be run in a different way, possibly allowing for more Quidditch games.

The sky's the limit.

As for the time factor, AHR might be open as early as sometime in the summer of 2005 - but I wouldn't expect it before that, as I'd probably be doing the bulk of work, minus data entering, in the summer months when there is no school, homework, or exams to worry about.

Oh no! What do I do until then?

Well, don't give up yet - some things will be appearing here in the future. They may be interactive things for you to amuse yourself, or competitions and the like - or just interesting things to look at. I'll probably be playing around with ColdFusion quite a bit while I learn it, so who knows what I may come up with as practice. If you've read the above, you'll want to join the NotifyList - any new additions will be reported to your mailbox. :)
